Visas for fans
| Country | What most visitors need |
|---|---|
| Kenya | Since 2025, most African nationals don't need an eTA (except Somalia and Libya) and can stay up to 2 months; East African Community citizens up to 6 months. Other visitors apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation online before travelling. |
| Uganda | eVisa, US$50 single entry, at visas.immigration.go.ug. Organisers announced a visa-fee waiver from a month before the tournament to a month after it; confirm how it applies before you travel. |
| Tanzania | eVisa, usually US$50 single entry (US citizens: US$100 multiple entry for 12 months), at eservices.immigration.go.tz. |
| Kenya + Uganda (+ Rwanda) | The East Africa Tourist Visa costs US$100 and covers Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda for 90 days. It does not cover Tanzania. |
A single "Pamoja visa" for all three hosts has been discussed but was not in operation in October 2026. Many fans also need a yellow fever certificate depending on where they travel from, so check each country's health rules.
Getting between host cities
| Route | How | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Nairobi – Entebbe (Kampala) | Flight | About 1 h 20 min |
| Nairobi – Dar es Salaam | Flight | About 1 h 30 min |

| Nairobi – Kampala | Bus | About 15 hours |
| Nairobi – Mombasa | SGR train | About 5½–7 hours |
| Dar es Salaam – Zanzibar | Ferry or short flight | Ferry about 2 hours |
Flights between East African capitals fill up fast during big events, so book early and keep your plans flexible until the match schedule is final.
Tickets: avoid scams
In October 2026 CAF had not announced official ticket sales or prices. Some websites already claim to sell AFCON 2027 tickets; treat them as unofficial. Buy only through channels announced by CAF at cafonline.com or the official organising committees, and never pay by M-Pesa or bank transfer to an individual.
Budgeting for the trip
Your biggest costs will be flights, accommodation near the stadiums and match tickets. Prices for rooms in Nairobi, Kampala and Dar es Salaam usually rise sharply during major tournaments, so lock in refundable bookings early.
